Kosta Kourotsidis, General Manager of Radisson Blu Hotel ,Dubai Downtown gave us an exclusive insight into the future plans & promotions.

Mr Kourotsidis, you were part of several hotel operations in Europe before moving to this region, is there a big difference between managing principles?
There are more uncertain situation and political instability in this region which make trading conditions different and a bit challenging but then each region has their differences and as long as there is team work and dedication, managing principles would run efficiently.

You joined the Rezidor group 16 years ago, what makes Rezidor so special to you?Rezidor is a growing company. It’s very dynamic and continuously changing for the greater. There is always something to look forward to.  Its concepts are innovative and usually in line with the latest trend of the industry. Not to mention, it is also a company that maintains high standard of business ethics, honesty and integrity.

What means Radisson Blu Hotel, Dubai Downtown for you?
It is great being a General Manager at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Dubai Downtown. Challenges, like in any other properties arise yet it is fulfilling in the end to work for a property with supportive and efficient colleagues.

What did you change since you started managing this place?
We have changed several Food & Drinks concepts while keeping it aligned with Radisson Blu’s unique touch. Visual is important in every ways but of course, quality and brand standard should never be at risk.   We have implemented the brand’s signature Super Breakfast Buffet and guests are extremely pleased about it.  We have also elevated the Meetings & Events coffee break set up by making the presentation and quality even more special and different from other hotels.  We have the Brain Food for meetings or an innovative and responsible food & beverage solution, developed by expert chefs and nutritionists to optimize performance during meetings.

What are the future plans? Any changes in the services you offer?
We will keep our focus stronger on putting guests into the center stage with innovative and out-of-the-box service concept, basically a unique service that is purely guest-centric.  We will also implement various staff trainings that will enhance our services and guest satisfaction. Guests have been and will always be our main focus.

What offers are you promoting at this moment?
At the moment, we have our Stay & Relax in Dubai promotion – it is a revitalizing stay package inclusive of 60 minute massage. This is perfect for guests who would like to maximize their stay in the hotel.  We are also having Food & Drinks promotion like our Burger Deal in our terrace bar, La Terrasse where guests can enjoy mouthwatering burgers with soft drink or house beverage starting from AED 50 and of course, our daily Lunch and Dinner Buffet offering international cuisines starting from AED 110.

Are you focusing on any particular segment now?
Since Dubai’s growth is evident and businesses are sprouting from side to side, we are currently driving our focus on Corporate and Group business.  

The competition within the hospitality sector in Dubai is huge, how do you promote Radisson Blu?
Given that Radisson Blu is an internationally acclaimed brand, we are promoting the Radisson Blu Hotel, Dubai Downtown further by linking its strategic location. We are taking advantage of it as we are situated next to Dubai’s top tourist hub. Our proximity to Dubai Mall & Burj Khalifa as well as our complimentary shuttle services attract more guests. Since it is vital not only in the hotel industry but every business to stay on top of the latest trends, we are also maintaining a strong online presence. We are active on social media and do creative campaigns to increase our brand awareness and fan engagement.

You are originally from Greece. Their tourist industry is in big trouble, what advice would you give them?
Greeks are known to be welcoming and extremely hospitable. The country itself is beautiful and rich in culture and history, hence warm hospitality should prevail regardless of the situation.  This “phase” wouldn’t last as long as there is endless optimism and support to each other.

You would like to stay in Dubai or are you already making plans for the next big thing within Rezidor Group?
Besides that fact that Dubai is a booming market and with the coming of Expo 2020, I can say that my tenure in this city is a long term assignment and I have a great commitment to the company.
